Few Words... but lots of photos

I don't have much time to write (for the moment), as I've got a gig to get to... but it's been too long since my last blog. Hasn't it? I've got lots to tell, but so little time these days. Perhaps the 1,000 words per photo will hold true for this post. I'll write my stories later (maybe after the gig).

A BLACK-CAPPED PETREL IN NORTH CAROLINAA BERMUDA PETREL!A BACHMAN'S SPARROWANOTHER ANGLE, SAME BIRDALLIGATOR!A DICKCISSEL IN CAROLINE COUNTY, MD.A CORY'S SHEARWATER IN NORTH CAROLINA.A SWIMMING CAROLINA CLAPPER RAIL.A DELAWARE ROSEATE SPOONBILL.SOME CAROLINA SKIMMERS!A PAINTED BUNTING ON MY VOLVO.A PAINTED BUNTING IN IT'S PREFERRED HABITAT.A GREATER SHEARWATER WITH A WILSON'S STORM PETREL.A FLYING SPOONBILL.A TYPICALLY DOCILE (IN THIS CASE DEAD), EASTERN MUD SNAKE.A WILSON'S PLOVER CHICK IN HOLDEN BEACH, NC.A WILSON'S PLOVER PARENT.A SOUTHERN GREEN ANOLE IN GREEN SWAMP, NC.SAME OLD ANOLE, NEW VIEW.A PREENING SPOONBILL.A WILSON'S PLOVER ON IT'S NEST.A WILSON'S PLOVER NEST WITH EGGS.WILSON'S PLOVER CHICKS GETTING SOME SHADE.

Now before you get mad and yell about me taking a photo of the nest... know this: I chased away a yellow lab tearing through this nesting area. Yes, it's illegal for dogs to be off leash on Holden Beach, but the idiot owners didn't seem to mind their doggie gettin' some exercise. I called them some names and yelled at them to get their dog off the beach. In the meantime, I took some photos and left mother Wilson to her incubating. This was on the West end of the Holden Beach island. On the East end, there were chicks a plenty. I counted 19 WILSON'S PLOVER on a nearby sandbar. Even still, this bird is threatened.

Off to my gig.

Best,

Dan
